I moved to New Port Richey, Florida in 1979. In 1989 I began to play again, renewing a relationship with the Music I love! After getting together with some friends with the same burning desire to Play, we formed "The Forever Young Band." My full-time position is now President of The Lighting Gallery, Inc. ,
but my Love is in the Music!
Matt DeSelms – Bass Guitar, Vocals
Matt DeSelms has been playing the bass since 1984
in a variety of different bands with many different styles.
He was born in Illinois but moved to Crystal River, FL at the age of seven. He began playing bass after moving with his family to Bonita Springs, FL where he went to high school and college. In 1986 he formed the band 2BLUE, a five-piece rock, pop band designed after the popular groups of the 1980’s. He began recording with 2BLUE and covered many of the days hit songs for crowds all over south Florida.
Matt returned to Illinois in 1990 and joined the already formed Dakota, a four-piece rock/ country band. Dakota played throughout the Chicago area for nearly five years before all of the members relocated to other areas of the country.
Matt went to Las Vegas in 1995 and soon became a member of “Sweaty Fish”. The fish were a four-piece rock group that soon collected a loyal following. While still a member of the fish, Matt moonlighted with a Motown cover band called “Stuff”. Stuff was made up of members of other bands in Las Vegas and had a short but successful run as a premier funk and soul band in the nightclubs on and near the strip. Both bands eventually dissolved into others including a duo act of Matt and one of the guitar players of “Stuff”. Matt and Tim played many top clubs in Vegas and had contracts with one of the largest casino chains in the world. During their time together, Matt and Tim gathered a loyal Vegas following while opening for national acts and even playing in Alaska. Matt and Tim added a third member in 2004 to create “Big Jim & The Twins”. They had a great run and continue to play in Las Vegas without Matt who moved back to Florida in September of 2005. Matt joined “Forever Young” in May of 2006.

Dave Smith - Drums, Vocals
Dave Smith
was born in Dayton Ohio. He grew up and went to school in Findlay Ohio. His
father was a full time drummer for 40 years, playing in his 13 piece band, the
Don Smith Orchestra in the 30s and 40s.
Dave started playing as a full time musician right out of high school, when he
took a job with a popular band in Columbus Ohio called the Nu-Trons, eventually
moving there. Over the next 18 years he played with bands ranging from R&B to
Rock & Roll to Show Groups.
Dave started a band in 1969 called Strongbow. They played all original material
and in 1975 released a national album on the Southwind label ( a subsidiary of
Budda Records). They toured the country, opening for such acts as REO Speedwagon,
The Elvin Bishop Group, Cactus, and Grand Funk Railroad, to name a few. The
album made #98 in Record World. After poor tour support and poor distribution
the group returned to Columbus and eventually disbanded.
After putting together a few more groups with some local success, ( Sweet Cheeks
& The Sting ) Dave & the love of his life Pat, decided to move to Florida to
start a new life.
Since then he has played with, Xciter, Bo Santo & the Rock A Tones, The Sevilles,
The Zoots, The Wild Cards & the Satellites.
Dave joined The Forever Young Band in May of 2006
